Civil Society members called for creating a women and children-friendly atmosphere in courts. Women and children, who are accused in cases, are usually kept at court hajats along with other criminals prior to producing before courts.
It hurts their mentality and also increase their criminal tendency in later life, they said. They made the remarks while addressing a press conference, organized by INCIDIN Bangladesh, at DRU yesterday.
Other necessary facilities for the accused are not available at court hajats, which is violation of their rights, they added. The press conference also demanded formation of special tribunal for quick disposal of women and child trafficking cases.
Advocate Rafiqual Islam Khan read out a written statement at the press conference. Sharifullah Riaz, Zahid Hossain, Monte Dewan and Chisol Luis were present among others.
